Colossians

Christ is supreme…

Christ is supreme, He existed before God made anything else, He is the visible image of the invisible God. God created everything in heaven and earth through Christ and He holds all creation together. Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. God in his fullness was pleased with Christ and by him God reconciled everything in heaven and earth by his blood on the cross. We who were once separated from God have been brought back in the very presence of God, and we are holy and blameless as we stand before him without a single fault. We need to continue to believe this truth firmly and not drift away from it.

We have a new life in Christ, as we grow in obedience to him, our roots will grow down into him and draw nourishment from him. As a result we will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth of Christ. Let our lives overflow with thanksgiving for what he has done.

Do not be led astray don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or Sabbaths. These rules were a mere shadow of the real thing, Christ himself.

We have died with Christ, and he has set us free from the evil powers of the world. Rules such as don’t handle, don’t eat, and don’t touch may seem wise but they require strong devotion, humility, and severe bodily discipline. But they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person’s evil thoughts and desires.

Let heaven fill your thoughts. Don’t think only about earthly things. When Christ died we died, our real life is hidden with Christ in God. Put to death all earthly pleasures that are sinful. Get rid of anger, rage and malicious behavior, don’t lie to each other; we have been clothed with a brand-new nature that is continually being renewed in Christ. Doesn’t matter who you are slave, master, Jew or Gentile God has chosen us to be holy people. Make allowances for people’s fault and forgive the person who offends you.

Wives submits to your husbands, husbands love your wives never treat them harshly. Children obey your parents; fathers don’t aggravate your children. God will give you your inheritance as a reward, but if you do wrong you will be paid back for the wrong things you have done.

We are to devote ourselves in thankful prayer and with an alert mind, don’t get distracted. Pray for everyone, your family, friends, church leaders, missionaries, pray that everyone has the opportunity to share God’s plan of salvation to all the people they come across in their daily paths.

Oh Lord, thank you for everything that you have given me, please don’t ever allow me to forget what you have done for me. I pray that as I walk through my daily life that you will guide me, and keep my eyes on you at all times. Take away the distractions that keep me from fully serving you. Keep me anchored to you at all times. In Jesus name, Amen.
